Appeartex is a biotechnology company that renews the anti-microbial world! With its new technology based on electrostatic attraction of micro-organisms, Appeartex offers a powerful protection against microbes in a wide variety of materials and applications. Appeartex serves as fly-paper for bacteria i.e. they are immobilized on the Appeartex-modified surface due to electrostatic forces. We offer companies that use our technology, to modify existing materials and products that give them new properties to increase value for their customers. We also offer business proposals based on Appeartex, finished formulations suitable for surface modification, e.g. for cleaning or disinfection purposes. The electrostatic forces mean that the technology has a "physical" effect. Substances with physical action are so far exempt from biocide and pesticide legislation in Sweden and most of Europe.

Advantages with the technology

Appeartex polymers are high molecular, positively charged molecules that do not contain any toxic or hazardous substances that may diffuse from the treated surface. No metals or other substances are linked into the polymer (such as silver, bromine, copper or other traditionally used small antibacterial molecules). The high molecular weight of the polymers means that they are unable to pass through intact skin tissue or blood vessel walls in humans or animals. Therefore no bioaccumulation occurs in tissues or internal organs, in case the product would be applied on the skin, inhaled or swallowed.
